Booklickers you say? Reminds me of union workers.....

Good point, thank you.

For clarity: post was just a Sunday musing at things I've seen over the years; mostly at work.
I'm a union member, but I'm as non-union minded as a union member can be. I'm not EVEN remotely a "socialist", but I'm all for collective bargaining with signatory contractors to our union for wages and benefits that the market will bear... THAT'S capitalism at its best right there.

What I am NOT is a tribal-minded drone who votes lock-step with any particular ideology, just for the sake of tribalistic "team sports", shallow slogans, etc.

I also don't suffer from a prevalent (but not universal) "union mentality" that the sole purpose of my employer's existence is to provide me a job. I'm there to make my employer as much profit as fast and efficiently as I'm capable so they can pay me the "outrageous" pay and benefits we negotiated for, as well as giving the end-use customer the very best product and service (on time and on budget) for the top dollar they paid... which keeps them coming back time after time.

That too, is capitalism at its best right there!

You'd be surprised at how many private sector union members aren't hard-core "progressives".

.... and I'm pretty damned well beat to hell at the end of the work day, most days.

Maybe that's why I can get a little cranky around here sometimes?

:s0153:

In any event, I come by it honestly.

;):D
Tired and cranky....Hmmmm....ain't much different than being in the Army at times.... :D
( Only you can't cuss as much...as least out loud...:D )

Non-socialist union members unite! Yay!! Now if only my dues didn't go to promote the latest communist who wants to take my rights away "for the good of the children!"

I exclusively buy locally sourced, Made in the USA boots that are pre-licked by certified gingivitis-free cobblers….

The "over the top lefties" in my union give me a wide berth (not 'cuz I'm fat, LOL) 'cuz I've told them if ever things were to get "hot" (politically speaking), we'd be looking at each other through opposing gun-sights.... plus they stand a good chance of getting arch-stomped in the union hall parking lot.

I was a non-union tinner (plus HVAC installer... basically I did all aspects of the trade) for over 15-years before I "organized" into the union. I challenged and sat for the journeyman test and scored a 96/100 (I took a LOT of industrial courses on my own over those years).

I'm a UA Local-290 Journeyman "Refrigeration Pipe Fitter", but also an industrial boiler, chiller, controls, refrigeration, and HVAC mechanic.

Union Tin benders are SMART Local-16. We sub out major ductwork jobs to them, and you should see their faces when they show up to a job and I hand them the layout with all the dimensional drawings (that I drafted) for the duct fittings they'll need to build, although I don't do that too often anymore... these days I'm too busy (and too lazy)!
