Hey Folks,
I have two panels of soft body armor. I picked these up with some other items awhile ago and don't know the threat rating or manufacturer. I *think* they might be from British police vests but really don't know. I originally had three panels but decided to test one out. Check out the ballistics test below!
(For clarification. This ad is for two complete panels PLUS the test panel)
For Sale:
Black Panel measures about 14"high x 21"long. White panel is 13" high x 22" long.
$45 for the set. $50 shipped. Willing to meet in Salem.
Ballistics Test:
At first I cut open nylon cover on the panel to see what was inside:
26 layers of a plastic type material
I put it back in the nylon covering and bungee corded the panel to a sturdy log. Using a cardboard box to check for any spalling.
(This is definitely what science looks like.)
The firearm today is a 1911 in that all American caliber: 45ACP
Three rounds later and my box is a little jostled
Three shots. Three hits.
No spalling anywhere on the box...sweet.
Turns out there isn't any spall because the three rounds mushroomed and stayed in the nylon cover
No pass through even on the first two layers.
So these panels stop 45ACP. That is pretty sweet. Since these aren't labeled and the test is informal I can't guarantee anything beyond a novelty but I'm sure they provide some level of protection. I'd be happy to include my test panel with whoever purchases the set.
Thanks for looking!
