'Real' BP is getting hard to find - which is why I caved and tried a can of Pyrodex a couple years ago - and I'll never go back. I don't know where all the negative reports came from but I get better ignition and accuracy from it. It is really noticeable in my 1851 Navy pistol. I can tell I am getting much more velocity just from the way it feels when being shot. With Pyrodex it feels and sounds like a stiff .38 special load. With black powder it feels weak and underloaded - and that is with nearly the maximum amount I can cram in the cylinder - about 24 grains.
Muzzleloading and more off Rickert road in Corbett. He has a nice selection of blackpowder pistols and rifles etc..
He also stocks real blackpowder. nice fella
