There have been significant POSITIVE bureaucratic changes affecting turnaround times for purchasing manufactured ones.

That right there is what bothers me.

From what I have heard it's all in the wording and being vague on the form depending on what question you are answering. There are ReDDits on the topic that can also assist people in the Form 1 endeavor if doing a DIY

Well, this sucks!

I am hoping to wake up one day (out of a dream) to learn suppressors have been de-regulated on all fronts so I can MAKE one.

Probably ONLY one as I only have one rifle with a threaded barrel!

Suppressors is what I'm referring to I've heard it's faster and easier to get when u get the tax stamps and build your own Google barrel shroud

I recommend a big no on that. Far easier and quicker to buy from your local SOT and the ATF is processing suppressors like wildfire these days. Going the Form 1 route opens you up for more opportunities to get sideways with the AFT as well.

Definitely DO NOT fall for the "fuel filter" setup or any other "just drill the hole as soon as the Form 1 clears" or "kit" scam.

BTW "barrel shroud" is a term used by gun control advocated for what the rest of us call "hand guards". The idea is to make it sound as skeery as possible so the uninformed don't realize that it's there to keep the shooter from burning his hand.

I did a Form 1 earlier in 2024 on an SBR I built, turn around time was about a month ish…For the Form 4 I have completed, using the Kiosk at ORW (Oregon Rifle Works) the most recent being four months ago, easiest process ever and turn around time was about a week..if this is done in conjunction with the purchase thru ORW cost difference was about $5..
