So I'm trying to finish my AR build and I got a regular barrel nut tried to put it on but it won't fit over the bull barrel. Is there different size barrel nuts?
Or is it just that i have to file down the nut to fit over the larger barrel?

Sounds like one of the parts is a tad out of spec. I would just file evenly the nut until it fits.

I agree with the above, but also might call whoever made the barrel and see what nut they use......

This is the best method, if you happen to have the machines.

Is this a DPMS barrel by any chance?

Common problem with bull barrels. It's like 4 thousandths off or something.

    It's a Stag 24" bull barrel.
One heck of a beatin stick.

For a $10 barrel nut i'll try sanding it down. I have a dremel i'm pretty comfortable with. If it comes out bad i'll just buy another one. Just don't want to scratch up the barrel sliding it on, but i was thinking about just putting masking tape over it to slide it one, adds more thickness but i think it will work.

    Thanks everyone!

Well once i reamed it out a little worked great. Used my dremel and a course and fine sanding wheels and it polished up really nice.
Got it all together now I can't wait to shoot it!
Here's a bad pic but gives you an idea
