I was wondering if anybody has messed around with different materials for the receiver groups...like brass or color case hardened steel, stainless ect.

While I do know that polymer types exist those have a dubiously practical reason behind them, I was thinking more along the "because it's beautiful" line of thought...mainly because I love weird crap.

I was at a gun show in New York state in 80 I guess and this guy had a all steel lower receiver. Said he was going to start making them but I never saw one. A steel lower will last much longer than untreated aluminum which won't last as long as a receiver on a Gov't weapon.
