AR 9 Buffer Question

I'm still an AR noob and could use some help. My wife has an 8" AR 9 and I don't want to register it, so I ordered a 16" 9mm upper for it. My question is do I need to change buffers? Does the extra length barrel affect it or anything else for that matter?

I have several times swapped a 16" upper and 5 inch upper on a Casper lower I made. Seems to not matter at all to how it works.

I have swapped barrel lengths on a registered sbr ar 9. No changes required. Though, I hope to see how the taccom air cushioned buffer works soon. It arrived the day after my clavicle broke.

Pro tip: Fire from the shoulder, not your neck, and stop when it hurt vs. keep going until somethin breaks.

I don't fire 100 pound branches from the shoulder. ( I got a large tree limb knocked onto me) though if I could get something that did, I would get my revenge on that tree.
