Can't tell if serious or not... If yes, the AK just has looser tolerances. DI vs piston has nothing to do with that.

I doubt it would get that full. Though it could be a factor in it, it would end up acting that way due to tight tolerance/clearance.

What a piston would do is just redirect where the carbon (on the piston as opposed to the receiver). Also would require less lube as it wouldn't burn off as much. Not sure about heat, not a big fan of burning my hand to risk it.

Though to be fair, the AK essentially became a bolt action, so loose tolerances/clearance didn't do it too much justice.
 
Anyone that does that to a good firearm should have a rectal torture test with a flintlock. Don't dirty an AR or AK. Just full bore black powder skewer.

And to do that to a perfectly good twinkie is a capital offence
