One lower I received today has a pretty good blemish on it and wondering if there is anything I can do on my end.

It appears to be more than just surface marks. Almost like the anodizing in those areas is extremely thin and raw metal is showing through. It's smooth, and I wiped it with a damp microfiber rag with no affect. I expected it was just some surface marks from the plastic bag it was in, but those usually blend in and disappear completely with the surrounding finish when wet or oiled. These remained unchanged.

Thoughts?

Send it back, I wouldn't have accepted it at the FFL.
It's an 80%. Shipped to my home together with the others.

I was hoping someone with more experience and a keen eye might say... Ohh.. it's just "this" and if you do "that" it will disappear completely. ;)

....OR... it's definately a messed up anodizing job. Send it back.

When you mill it out, you're going to have a lot of bare, raw aluminum to refinish anyway so I suppose it's about at the bottom of the "oh no!" List for me

I never had to do any touch-ups or refinishing exteriors before. I alumi-hyde the milled pockets and holes, but for most people with at home products, I think it would be pretty difficult to produce an even exterior finish that would match a factory anodized. Trying to spot blend an area is probably doable, but not when you're paying full price for "factory new" non-blemished lowers, IMHO.

I was more just interested in "second opinons" on what the marks actually are and if it's easily correctable or definately a return.

No clue and hard to tell from pic but it looks like maybe something spilled on it. Did you try to rub it off with rubbing alcohol, gun oil, other?

Rubbing alcohol was a good idea. Non-invasive and doesn't alter the condition as delivered. Sadly, No affect. :(

I tried water and a microfiber earlier. I didn't want to oil it since it would alter the delivered condition and didn't want to create any potential wrinkles in returning it, if need be.

1) It bothers you enough to start a thread about it.
2) No Form 4473 is involved here.
3) Send it back for an exchange.

This lower should have been sold as a blem.

Superficial/cosmetic, if you use guns in any degree of training and consider them to be tools. It's not an issue.
True. I like to start out "fresh" and any character marks to be earned. ;) Seeing how I paid for "new"... that's what I would expect to receive. If I wanted blemished I would have bought blemished and saved myself the extra 20 bones to begin with. ;)
