"In text messages to a relative, she voiced concern last month that her nephew had access to a gun, according to screenshots she provided to The Post; last week, she wrote that her mother — the suspect's grandmother — had gone to see a counselor at his school to request help, the screenshots show."

Also he just saw therapist for first time a week before according to the article. So it's very possible he just started his meds which might have made him more nuts.

I would be very surprised (and a little horrified!) if a therapist gave him meds after one visit or even a couple visits in just a weeks time

I'll like to praise the School Resource Officer actually confronting the active shooter and not cowering outside. He stopped it from becoming another Uvalde.

I'm surprised democrats are not calling to ban SROs in all schools.

I suspect public schools have funding that far exceeds that of any religious school. I know the religious schools I've been involved with in the past struggled to make ends meet, they were no profit centers, that's for sure.

Many did ban SROs, quickly backfired.

When I looked into private schools tuition was insanely expensive.

Public schools are tax funded and have a huge income but they are a mess with wasted misused money hamstrung by bureaucracy.

Yeah.....imagine, one day, being held criminally accountable for ALL of your underage kid's actions and/or his or her, misdeeds.

Are you sure......
That you want to allow them access to the family vehicle?
That you will allow them to learn how to light a match?
That you will allow them access to a computer or the phone?
That you will allow them to use poisonous chemicals in the yard or garden or even to mow the lawn?

Wait, why aren't those same people demanding to ban those items or pushing for criminal responsibility to be visited upon that parent(s) when their kids misuse those products?

Funny, how the Constitution of the USA does NOT say......

".........shall not be infringed."

when speaking about those potentially DANGEROUS/DEADLY items.

To take away, "Parental Rights".
Say that your kid confides in a teacher at school about "sexuality issues." Rrrright....... but It's illegal, in some states, for parents to know/learn from a child's teacher, that their boys want to be girls.

Sadly, this is what happens when gun owners dont advocate new gun owners lock up their guns. We get what we advocate for.

I don't know how gun owners can make any difference by advocating to new owners who will never hear them. We can't even get people to stop dragging TVs into the woods to shoot and leave them there. Every year there are less places open because people leave garbage everywhere.

my kids went to public school in La Center, Wa
had armed school security
had patrols around the school to insure doors were closed and lock during classes
had one secure entrance with a school security person

but students brought their deer rifles to school in their pickup and left them in their vehicles
no school shootings in La center

Its sad but true.
The reach of experienced gun owners on the millions of new gun owners is too little.

My comment was a jab at the many times Ive read members here tell new people to teach their kids not to touch "or else", instead of locking the guns up. Admit lately it seems to be a little better.

I have conflicting thoughts on the idea of parents being held accountable for the crimes of their kids, but I didnt feel sorry for the Crumbleys and wont for this dad those actions are way over the top ignorant.

Too many people raising kids these days that never had parents themselves teach them family values, were at about 2 generations deep now into social media parenting and its getting worse.

I have raised 3 boys, one a step son
each had their own rifle by age 6 and kept it in his room
each went shooting with me until they were about 10, then allowed to shoot on their own
none of them turned out to be school shooters
