I never wanted a .22 short. I mean, I know they can kill a skunk, but even that seems iffy. Anyway, ran across this little s&w model 1 for a reasonable price. Condition of bore is that it has some pitting. It is the top one I the photo. Manufacturing date is likely late civil war.

Very nice and historic find.
The S&W model 1 was considered a top of the line , cutting edge , concealed carry piece in the late 1850's through the 1870's.
As roughly the first handgun to use a self contained cartridge , at least for a commercial success...it paved the way for our guns of today.
