If it came to it, would you be OK with America partitioning into separate countries?

I'm reading a book now, a novel called American War, set a few decades from now in which America is suffering the aftermath of a 20 year long Second Civil War. The "Reds" (for Red States, get it?) secede and the "Blues" bring them back in by force after much death and destruction. A line struck me: "for years we could see it coming...that this country was ready to rip itself apart". I'm curious to gauge sentiment about this.

Let me pose a hypothetical. Would you be, in principle, for or against partitioning the country? Let's assume it's done peacefully and "fairly" so that groups of like minded citizens can go their own ways and not have to even live in the same country as those Other People. Yay or Nay?

(Notice to Those Who Watch Us: I in no way advocate insurrection or disloyalty. I sing God Bless America while cheerfully paying my taxes. OK, the second part is a lie)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Sums it up for us.

As much as I respect my Confederate ancestors ... I think the idea of partitioning America is a bad idea.

I would be afraid of America turning into a "Balkan type" break up ,with a bunch of polarized regions with little to no support for each other or to and from the outside world.

Also I would be conflicted , because I am neither Liberal or Conservative .... I fall fully into neither of those two camps .... No one really speaks for me or would trust me.

What I do know , is that I love my country and the idea of what it is and can become... I would hate to see it fall apart.

I trust you, Andy. Up to a point. ;)

I really don't want to see it happen and hope that we as a people can come together as we once were. The war isn't about territory; it's about ideology.

I have doubts that the big government socialist folks will figure out the end game until they turn us into another Venezuela. If they could do that they would look at all the other examples and note that without being propped up by foreign aid (from US, naturally) that choice leads to economic and social disaster, and we wouldn't be here.

They aren't going to go away until they turn us into a sewer and along the way will continue to take our freedoms away as their "tolerance" only applies to those we agree with. I don't have the answer.

We are living in momentous times; civil war is underway, just no open bloodshed yet - not that I'm hoping for shooting to start in any way.

At this point it's political, with a significant segment of the government and population refusing to accept the authority of those now elected to power.

I'm looking at a number of key indicators based of previous history and all I can advise is for people to be aware and ready to defend their families.

And be mindful of false flags...

Get fit, get armed, get trained.

When Obama was in office Texas and 7 other states threatened to secede.
Now it's California, Oregon, etc...
I wonder if there's a point where we start getting so used to the idea that someone says "go ahead, we won't stop you"

...and we are taking all our hardware, military and otherwise, troops, contracts, severing the electrical grid and water and gas pipelines...

Yeah, messy divorce. But at least we can keep all our hydropower....and seal off the California border to keep all those Cali-furriners out of OUR country. :p

There are a lot of things wrong with many parts of this country includimgy my own stste. I don't agree or understand with many things and many ideologies I can't accept but this is the only country I have called my own and plan to live here the rest of my life. I have been willing to die for this country of ours and would willing put my life on the line for my country if it ever comes to that. I do not want to see it broken apart as for all its problems it is still the best in my eyes.

Clashes erupt at pro-Trump rally in California

As author Matt Bracken puts it - we're one mag dump away from CWII.

The violence came "counter protestors" dressed in black. Likely the same similarly clad paid agitators that caused the violence at the last Berkley event as well. The money trail will go back to Soros if anyone was interested in following it. Sure would be nice if Bloomberg and Soros were visiting Kim Yung Blob when the bunker buster got there...

How long have people been saying that the US is not what it once was? That the Govt has overreached their limits? That we should be prepared? My own father mentioned that he had heard the same arguments from pessimists when he entered service just before VN became a war.... even though there was a "high" of economic boom and very high consumerism and production in the late 50s....myself.. I vividly recall people proclaiming that the end was near, that the US was going to break up and that the Fed was gonna take all our guns away during the late 80s and early 90s... and again during the late 90s and early 2000s and yet again during O's presidency...
Enough people will take care of matters.
The silent majority really do not care either way.
The vocal minority groups of people are however becoming more violent, more aggressive... but when push comes to shove.. when someone pushes the limits.. we will see what happens when one pokes a sleeping lion enough times.
