Lots of those countries under-report crime though. Couple that with wildly different criteria for those metrics and it skews a lot of what we would call violent crime here in the U.S. to more minor statistics
Okay, show me those numbers and explain why they are wrong. With the metrics and all. Feelings aren't facts, so leave those out.

About the only outside place I'd consider is Czech Republic. Closest you'll get to 2A, plus they know how to crank out hotties... maybe try to find an old fixer-upper castle and buy a title.
Just don't get sick. Ask me how I know.
This outside the hospital. Inside was bleak and more bleak 80s era. I didn't want to be rude and take a bunch of pictures. Nice people but old equipment. But I give 2 thumbs up for Prague. I could live there.

How can I show you numbers when the very charge is that the numbers are under reported/suppressed? I can show you lots of news articles about scandals for under reporting metrics (for example the Rotherham "groomer" scandal has. . . not done great things for the U.K. sex crimes statistics, and there are still arguments on how it is all going to get counted as these crimes were covered up for decades, and they are still discovering more people who reported and were suppressed). And the ones in the news are just the cases that get caught, reported on and sort-of corrected.

What we can see is that many of these governments have massive incentives to suppress crime stats from "certain demographics" and have little fear of actually doing so. . . until they get caught. Then it may take another decade for all the statistics to finally be updated to reflect a closer approximation of the truth, which is well past the use-by date for political relevance.

I'll take best available data over feelings every time.

My older sister lives in Nicaragua, a communist controlled country, that from what she says, has little effect away from Managua. She is in a gated community (with a guard equipped with an AK47) and has a nice little house that she can afford to live in on her US Social Security (her money given back to her) just well enough to be pleasant. She was overweight when she moved there, maybe 225 #, but now weighs about 150 or so, due to the local diet. And to have happiness in your life at the same time? Good for her..

Which reminds me, what is this thing with young people going to Third World countries to "teach English?" Like Cambodia, for example. Mrs. Merkt has a niece who went there to do that. I asked her, "Do you speak Cambodian?" She said no. I'm not sure how they teach English without knowing the first language of the pupils.
My oldest brother took his family to Guam. He worked for DOD and managed a commissary there. His teen boys were relentlessly pursued by the local maidens, of all ages. He believed they saw a biracial child, with an American father, as a ticket to somewhere else. His wife was highly sought after to teach English. Apparently they prefer people from the NW or mountain states. It seems they didn't want their students speaking English with a Southern drawl.

Sad, but… orthogonal.

I have not thought of Sally Struthers for a while. She had a lot of feelings, thinking about the children.
I don't see how it is orthogonal at all.

I point out that crime in many "social democracy" nations are under reported, you say "show me the statistics" as if they are going to keep statistic on their under reporting, I point out one very blatant example of under reporting, noting that there are many other cases that can be found, and even google AI (notoriously not conservative leaning) spits back that many of these countries have problems with their crime statistics;

you say "I still trust the statistics over 'feelings.'" Well bro, maybe in this case "feelings" (which in this case I am taking to mean "actual reported news stories, many of them with proven allegations") are more accurate than the government supplied statistics.

There are pros and cons to just about every place one would consider living...even here in the US. Everything is a trade-off.

I have friends that pulled the rip cord and decided to retire 10 years earlier than planned, by moving down to Ecuador. They have a two bedroom condo in Salinas, right on the Malecon overlooking the ocean. They absolutely love it and have zero regrets about their decision. Ecuador, however, is very friendly and accommodating for American expats. And their healthcare system is very good.

But they also kept their house in San Diego and have been renting it out this whole time. In this manner they have a "Plan B" in case things didn't/don't work out in Ecuador. They may move back at the very end for healthcare reasons. They at least have the option.

Here's a picture of the view from their place.

Cute AI summary. You're still spilling out all over the place trying to support a scattered blast of assertions which support your… feelings. About people at the southern border et cetera. I don't care about all that. I don't have time. I have too many women.

I have a friend that he and his wife teach English in Japan and China from their RV here in the US. In Asia they teach written English, But my friends teach them how to speak in English. They work about 4 hours a day, and earn over $100,000 a year each. The bedroom in the RV has a fake office background that they put up during class time. Right now they are teaching from Galveston Bay in TX.
I have several friends that work over seas for American Companys, or as Quality control for products made to be sold here. They hire Americans because they are less likely to take bribes. in other countries bribery is just how business is done. DR
That sounds like a sweet gig! Where can we find it and sign up?

Nice way to cherry pick only points you want to contest with. That post also has three more links that support my point and has remained 100% topical; crime rates in those countries are under-reported. But if you can't handle that don't acknowledge it I guess.
