AK scout mount idea (Mosin scope mount?)

I'm thinking I like the idea of a scope mount in place of the rear sight for my red dot. I have used the gas tube scope mount befor and I feel it put the scope to far away for me. So,before I put 80 bucks in a mount I got to wondering if a NC Star Mosin mount (12 bucks) would work insted? Are the mosin rear sight mounts simular to those found on AK's? I know if it would fit that I would have to mod it but I like projects like that. Has anyone tried this?

I have an old school ACE mount that does just that, PM me if you want it. It does sit a bit high, more of a "chin weld", but works.

There's this, but it's got limited applications due to the specificity of what will mount on it.

I believe several companies have made similar mounts. Seems like a reasonable thought to put a pic rail on it instead of a optic specific mount...
