I am certainly NOT against the carrying in a bar but consider this. It's 1 AM, a crowded bar, MOST are and probably have been drinking for a while and suddenly someone opens up.

Hey, I've been in crowded clubs/bars early in the morning (and drinking as well) and I really cannot see how one could effectively react defensively under these conditions.

I mean people would be all over, running left and right, slamming into one another. Not only minimal light and it would be hard to see.

I'm thinking bars & clubs are now a pretty 'chancy' place to be (depending on the location and the demographics) - especially after the 'dinner hour' and into the evening/early morning hours.

Guns and booze, nature's little way of .... well you know...

I used to work in a major chain restaurant bar. They used to sell glass pitchers of beer, but after a messy bar fight where they were used or thrown, the next morning they pulled them all. Oh BTW, guns were not allowed.

Texas does not allow CC in bars, but usually OK in restaurants (diff clientele) It really is more determined on curtailing the amount of alcohol being served.

Article says that hundreds of people were there for an alumni celebration.

It's only gun free if you leave your gun outside. With that said if one is consuming alcohol I think it's unwise to carry a gun on their person.
Im only referring to the laws. Nobody should be lawfully prohibited from their constitutional rights in bars.
