Why would anyone up here be shopping for 10 round mags?

Because your law is changing. I have no idea how long you have till you can't grandfather in owned magazines. Usually laws like that are drafted so that they go into effect immediately or the acquisition has to be before some fixed date around the time of the law's passage to prevent everyone from rushing out and buying the item that will be prohibited in the future. Not that I agree with it.

I've even got two or three for travel to CA or when I drove across the country to see my family who lives in NY.

10 rounders will still be available after the July 1st deadline. So, kind of the last thing I might be looking for.
