National 80% Receiver Law Goes Into Effect

That's the bizarre part about the Republican leadership allowing HB2005 to go through. Senate minority leader Knoop said that it was in the federal regulations, at least the part about 80% ers, and that it didn't matter because it was federal law. This is exactly what happens when you compromise and just get along to go along. Crap comes back to slap you in the face and knock your constituents into the mud.

IMHO, he'll never hold public office again but that's what happens in a leadership position. If you can't handle the stress and decisions of the position, and screw up, everyone else suffers, and you're out on your behind.

Politicians that claim to be on our side need to listen to our lobbyists/et. al. when it comes to the issues and the law. You would think a legislator would know what the law says and what it doesn't say, or who to ask on a controversial important (to his constituents/supporters) issue before opening his/her mouth.

Or maybe he knew and lied. Politicians tend to do that.

I'm sure that the founding fathers JUST FORGOT to make it a LAW........that all firearms needed to be marked with serial numbers.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't it also say that it also illegal to own it unassembled or unmilled as well? Seems they conveniently left that part out.

Yeah, someone remind me how will that worked for the ATF with the brace ban SBR register. Last I checked the numbers where so far below what they expected that it wasn't even funny, I expect this to be no different.

You're not wrong. Possession of an unfinished framer or receiver is also illegal. Better throw out any double fist sized or larger pieces of plastic or metal you might have in around the house. It's for the children!

In recent years, these new laws like this have been seeing about a 5% compliance rate. They're aware of that too, but as we all know... it really has nothing to do with public safety, reducing crime or enforcing compliance. It's simply trampling on the backs of everyday citizens rights... because they can... for personal politician gain.

they only fear the consequences of alienating their voter bases.

they only fear losing their positions in places of power ( being voted out, being charged with crimes, being hit by civil lawsuits, etc).


they know that gun owners as a whole, are not willing to vote them out, to remind them that they work for the voters

The good news for those who decide to comply is that, you can get the serialization done after September 1st, 2024 to come into compliance. So if you decide to hold off until the trial plays through and we lose, you can always get the serialization done later.

If I had one, I'd be damned sure to NEVER serialize a paperweight.

Just wait until ATF makes a law requiring all parts must be serial numbered; upper, lower, stock, BCG, bbl, magazine…..

And all serial numbered parts purchased run through a FFL

500+ million items to be serialized? Thats a conservative estimate. Theres apparently a billion standard capacity magazines in the wild.
