The throat is the important part, Ruger frequently leaves them small for better performance with jacketed bullets. The throat should be .001 larger than groove diameter, and then size your bullets to fit the throat. Have the throats reamed to .4525 or .453 and likely all your issues will disappear.
Interesting thanks, I think I'll probably do both and go from there. I will have to look and see if there's a gunsmith in my area to do it, sending it off sucks. I know I can get it from brownells but those two things are expensive for one pistol.
