The throat is the important part, Ruger frequently leaves them small for better performance with jacketed bullets. The throat should be .001 larger than groove diameter, and then size your bullets to fit the throat. Have the throats reamed to .4525 or .453 and likely all your issues will disappear.

Interesting thanks, I think I'll probably do both and go from there. I will have to look and see if there's a gunsmith in my area to do it, sending it off sucks. I know I can get it from brownells but those two things are expensive for one pistol.

I just remembered you can rent those tools from pacific tool, I'm going to do that.

my blackhawk throats were .450. opened them up to .4525 and no leading with .452 bullets and still shoots .451 jacketed just as good. worth every dime. by the way mine really likes 300gr tc coated at 1100 fps. accurate and good thump!
 
The 625-6 MG in LC is a great, I love mine - bought it new, unfortunately it came with magna Porting from the factory. I also have a 25-13, 629-2 Mountain Revolver and two 629-4s.
