Just pullin your leg man;). Glad you had some time with family and happy belated Independence Day - thanks for keepin it moving even on a holiday:cool:

My family took a vacation that year.
SFO helicopter from San Jose to SFO. TWA from San Francisco to St Louis. Car caravan with a pop up trailer to St Augustine Florida.

We watched the Astronauts walk on the moon on a 6" black and white tv screen in our campground on the beach surrounded by at least 50 fellow campers, and toured Cape Canavrral the next day.

I was almost 7, yet remember the trip very well. The Deep South blew me away. I was a California Kid, and saw "white's only" signs, and KKK buildings. I remember thinking "what is wrong with these people?"

I was sitting in the Ft. Clayton, CZ NCO Club when the landing took place. We were given the next day off.

For the next few days I was a Transport NCO(aka:Guard) for a Courts Martial. Normally, I was the Mail Clerk and Unit Armourer for the Maintenance Company. So I knew a little something about Carrying and possibly having to "USE" and just when to "USE" my sidearm.

The Court found him guilty, he got 10 years, 6 months total, and a short time later I escorted him to the Airport for his flight to Leavenworth KS.

About a year later I was attending a bit of a Party in Southeast Asia and ran into his Brother, who was an Lt. In charge of the Guard Detail. It's a Small, Small World!

I remember watching this unfold on tv, live, I was just a grade schooler, was a very impressionable time for me. The actual moon landing happened on my dads birthday, remember sitting at his feet watching it. Happy Birthday Andy!!!!
