Burnside finishes their (I'm assuming sourced) whiskey in Garry Oak too.Westland distillery makes a whiskey aged in barrels made from locally sourced Garry Oak. Haven't tried it but I'd like to.

True but there are many differences between wood density in oaks. Quercus palustris isn't hard and dense like garryana etc..And here I thought that was a lumberjack world champion!
I just call that an Oak tree... lol

Quercus robur is more what you find in furniture due to its growth patterns.
