That's what I was afraid of. I don't even have a .300 savage die yet, I'm exploring all my options before I start hacking .308 brass to fit. But… that might be my best option. Can make your own brass from 308 brass... size & trim (it's a big trim job!!!) A motorized case trimmer works great
I can't remember if the 99 action can handle that. You could always have it rechambered to .308.
Yes it can, I have one.I can't remember if the 99 action can handle that.
I sent you a PMI have a two die set and about 50 deprimed brass plus maybe three empty factory paper ammo boxes, Yours for $25 if you come to Beaverton to pick it up. PM me if interested
I'll get on it. Thank you. There is some in the ammunition for sale classifieds here.
What year is your 99? The one I have is from "57"I inherited a model 99 and I'd like to find some "affordable" ammunition (laughable these days) or some brass to reload. Any ideas? Every place online I've found is charging $3 per round.
I'm not sure. When I get home I'll look at the serial and maybe figure it out. It'll be third generation in my family. So probably around that eraWhat year is your 99? The one I have is from "57"
it is an easy serial # look up.I'm not sure. When I get home I'll look at the serial and maybe figure it out. It'll be third generation in my family. So probably around that era
I originally bought three boxes of 300 Sav. ammo when I purchased my Sav. 99 in 300 Sav. back in the early, 80s. I've made all my own brass from once fired 308Win. and 7.62 NATO brass ever since. It's an easy conversion, especially if you're using a chop saw a jig https://www.ebay.com/itm/154322509931I inherited a model 99 and I'd like to find some "affordable" ammunition (laughable these days) or some brass to reload. I've probably converted around 500 pieces of brass over the years, and although I do occasionally shoot a jacketed bullet or two, my Sav. 99 mainly gets a steady diet of my cast lead bullets.

Finally got home to look up the serial. Turns out this rifle was made in 1936.it is an easy serial # look up.
My first 300 Savage came from @ageingstudent, and included a bunch of native 300 Sav brass as well as converted. Great cartridge, I've purchased two more guns in it since.I originally bought three boxes of 300 Sav. ammo when I purchased my Sav. 99 in 300 Sav. back in the early, 80s.
