I am life member of the NRA as well and I haven't voted for a longtime given all of the shenanigans the NRA has done over the years.
I've been a life member for the past 25 years and have voted very sporadically, usually not. But the past two years I've carefully submitted my ballot in an attempt to help clean up the mess.

I spent more time than I'd like going over the ballot and the options. Knox, NRA 2.0, the "Strong NRA" and the Nominating Committee all have lists. All are somewhat confusing, since they use names without any order, even alphabetical. I finally made an Excel spreadsheet with the following columns: Line number 0-50 (to show the number of names), Rank (total of the four ratings), Last Name, First Name, Ballot Number, Knox rating, 2.0 rating, Committee rating, and Strong rating. This allows me to sort the lists. I then gave a rating of 0-5 in each column, giving a 0 to anyone Knox warned of, or I had any other reason to dislike. Full endorsements from Knox or 2.0 got a rating of 5. I came up with enough rated candidates to vote for 28. One of these will require a write-in, unless I skip over him for one that is on the ballot.

Knox did a good job of explaining his choices for voting. He made a good case for his choices, but he only came up with 23 endorsements, and a general list of people he didn't oppose. Those he opposes match with my opinion. I expect that Knox didn't have the candidate number available, but it would have really helped. Because of my list, I can see what number I need to vote for, instead of searching the whole ballot for the name. Couldn't the NRA assign the candidate number alphabetically?

After looking over the ballot, I think the NRA seems to be getting back on an even keel. Even the "old guard" is supporting candidates that would never be acceptable during the Wayne era.

Yes, it was a bit cumbersome. I think he intentionally left the last five up in the air so as not to offend as many as possible who he didn't want to endorse. By only endorsing 23 it left him some wiggle room to work with more of the "leftovers'" in the future. I ended up writing in a couple of names.

The ballots must be received by the NRA by April 6, 2025. Not postmarked by April 6, but RECEIVED by April 6. According to John Richardson (who is also running for the NRA board and very much deserves your vote) at Only Guns and Money, 748 ballots were received late at last year's election and were not counted.

If you are an eligible voter and have not voted yet, please get you ballots in by this weekend to ensure they will be received on time. I highly recommend voting for 26 of the 28 candidates (including the two write-ins) listed on the Elect a new NRA site: https://electanewnra.com/who-to-vote-for/
The two I will not vote for are Willes Lee and Jim Porter. They were both part of the Wayne LaPierre cabal and only seemed to change their tune to become "reformers" when it became politically expedient to do so, thus I do not trust either one. Instead, please vote for Mark Shuell of Auburn, MI. He should have been on the electanewnra list and is recommended by Jeff Knox and Frank Tait. For the 28th vote, I'm going with Charles Rowe of Wadsworth, OH based on a recommendation from Jeff Knox.

Be sure to only vote for no more than 28 candidates. If you vote for 29, your ballot will be invalidated.

Wow, I haven't supported the NRA in years. Not since 2017 when my health started to really go down the crapper. I pretty much gave up on shooting not long after. I sold my guns because I figured if I can't get out to enjoy them, or worse no longer be around, why keep em.

Now that LaPierre is gone, maybe I will get a membership again. I liked the magazines. Are they still printing, or is it all digital now?

I still get a magazine in the mail. I think there is a choice of publications. I get American Hunter.

Yes, you can still get a print version delivered to your mailbox, and if you're an eligible voter (life member or annual member for at least five consecutive years) your ballot will be enclosed in the February 2025 edition. Your four choices of magazines are shown on the homepage of https://electanewnra.com/

I would hold off giving the NRA any money until we see that a large slate of reformers gets elected to the board. There are still a lot of bad actor cabal members on that oversized board whose loyalties are to the grift machine that started this mess in the first place. Once there are enough reformers in place to override the votes of the Wayne LaPierre loyalists and we can see some real, tangible, and quantifiable changes being made then maybe, just maybe, the NRA will be worthy of your contributions again. In the meantime SAF and GOA are deserving of your dollars.
