As the title says, this Winchester Model 52 Target was owned by Kyle Snowhill of Black Hawk Rifle Club and Dewar Competition fame. Mr Snowhill was born February 9, 1920 and began shooting small bore .22 in 1936 while in high school. He purchased this rifle new in 1936. He competed in the 1941, 1946, and 1961 Dewar Championships at Camp Perry. In 1962, Snowhill teamed up with Harry Tevis, Al Freeland, and Earl Saunders to win the American Dewar Cup, emblematic of the National Metallic Sight Smallbore Championship. It was Black Hawk's first National Championship. Items of note in this collection are the letter dated 7/6/1948 from the US Olympic Committee inviting him to the US Olympic Trials in Quantico VA on July 10th and 11th, 1948. It is unknown by me if he attended the Olympic Trials in 1948.
The rifle has been altered to fit Snowhill's shooting needs. The barrel tip to breach is 22 inches in length, the scope is 24 inches in length, and the rifle is just shy of 40 inches in length. I believe the scope is a Unertl, but there are no markings on it. The glass is clear.. The rifle is in wonderful condition for its age. Rifle ships with two 5-round magazines.
