Just wondering how you verified that it has a 2 3/4" chamber?
Looks like they were 2 9/16" until somewhere in the mid to late 1920's. May be hazardous and have ejection issues if attempting to shoot 2 3/4" shells in a 2 9/16" chamber. A gunsmith can lengthen the chamber and open up the ejection port.
I agree I own my grandpa's 1918 model 12 in 16 GA and it is a 2 9/16ths inch chamber... Such a sweet shooting shotgun, but I load my own 2.5" shells for it as I would never alter it from the way it was... I have fond memories of shooting my first few ducks with this shotgun.. again it's a great piece of history and one that I will never sell... And by cutting the chamber and ejection port it will devalue the gun even further...Looks like they were 2 9/16" until somewhere in the mid to late 1920's.
