Not trying to pick a fight, but what are the advantages to a FLGR? I only had one 1911 with one and if functioned no differently than the others.
There are no advantages to a FLGR, your experience reflects that as evidence.

The "claim" is they provide smoother operation by preventing spring binding. The reality is there is only about 3/4" of slide travel (govt size) that is "uncaptivated" on the spring but in reality the entire spring is captivated on its OD by the frame and the slides dust cover. In short, the spring isnt binding during its travel.
