Anyone familiar with 114 that can comment on how it will affect NFA iteams? Specifically silencers.

I understand it a BGC has to be completed with every NFA transfer (not just firearms), effectively putting a hold on any new transfers (least until the courts overturn it in a few years).

There is a background check paperwork filled out for the suppressor, a paper trail from the shop, however that paperwork is not run as it is the ATF that approves it...

I'll admit I have not done any research on it, but my worry, maybe completely unfounded, would be more along the lines of what happens if you have an FFL that decides to close shop while you have a suppressor waiting for ATF approval? Fortunately the suppressor approvals have been very fast lately, but some are still taking a while, and I worry with full implementation of all these laws, some FFLs will decide it isnt worth it anymore, and either move out of state or just hang it up. Then what happens with your suppressor in jail?

The FFL would be required to transfer it to another shop. ??Form 4??.

No idea on what that would do to the original purchasers timeline.

Folks with this type of concern could look into ?capital armory? for suppressor purchases. The folks who ship the suppressor direct to the purchaser.

Never done such. Not familiar.

I'll keep with Capitol Armory and have it sent direct to avoid the FFL.

Picking one up Monday that's being held at a UPS store.
Yeah that could be the better option going forward. Does add a decent amount of time to the process, as they have to wait for the CLEO notification, and then ship it etc. My last suppressor, purchased in stock at a local FFL, took a total of 2 days, from the time I walked in and paid for the suppressor, to the time I walked out with it in hand, approved. So big benefit to buying a suppressor locally in stock.

@ActBlueDonor that is a great idea about the UPS store- that is one of the biggest reasons I have not bought any suppressors from Capital yet- we live out in the country, and often have issues with FedEx/ups mixing up our address with the neighbors for deliveries. We have good relationships with most all of our neighbors, so maybe would be ok if it was delivered to the wrong address, but MAN that would be stressful, when it is a freaking NFA item like a suppressor! Would not want that getting into the wrong hands!

before a failed delivery attempt I make sure to change location. $7.99 resolves the issue and makes it more convenient, have one week to pickup up at ups store before it's returned to sender.

Currently eyeballing a SiCo Hybrid 46 that's in the cart.

Great idea, going to have to remember that one- way less stressful picking it up at UPS rather than stressing about where it ends up. With all the shipping problems/delays/missing packages, already stressful to ship such items!

FYI I have a SiCo Hybrid 46m- great 'modular' suppressor for a 'do everything' can. As they say- its pros is versatility, however as with all suppressors, it is ok at everything, but not a master of one. Meaning, better dedicated options for specific calibers, but if you want a do anything ok can it is great. It was my 3rd can after getting a .22 and 9mm can. Since then I have purchased 5 more cans- all dedicated, like Velos 556 flow through, Wolverine, Spectre 9 etc . . .

Do it! I just got mine and have been having a ton of fun. 1/2-28 mounts are almost nowhere to be found but I located some from Sheels this morning, got a titanium one coming. Mine is a direct thread model but with the multiple encaps and mounts is very versatile. I also have picked up a few firearms to use with it in the last couple weeks, man this is addictive.

Its my understanding if your shop closes up the ATF expedites your form process so all inventory is cleared off the FFL's books.
