I've been reloading 10mm for a little while now for my Glock 20 and I'm having consistency issues. About 3-4 times per mag, I have a round hang up when the slide cycles forward or it never completely goes into battery. It's out by a 1/4" or so. I have a Lone Wolf stock length barrel for it and I was convinced that it was the issue. But after testing the original Glock barrel, I had the same problem. Am I looking at an actual reloading issue here? Crimping issue? Possibly it could just need a more powerful recoil spring? Who's got a Glock 20 out there that has some advice for me?

What load are you shooting?
I've been loading for a glock 20 for a long time.

Could be a load issue. I.E. Short stroking. The load may not be cycling the slide fully rearward which does not allow the slide to have its full forward energy to cycle a round into the chamber.

Could also be a bunch of other factors.

Post up more info on the load.

155gr Speer gold dots I'm using 12gr blue dot

180gr RNFP'a I'm using 9.0 gr longshot

Every manual I've got says those are high end loads. Especially the blue dot.

Any weight suggestion on the recoil spring? I've been toying around with that idea for a while but hadn't taken the time to ask around yet.

If it is in fact short stroking a heavier poundage recoil spring won't help. That would worsen it.

Which of these loads is causing the issue?

I haven't really messed with light bullets in the 10 before, but that load (155g), perhaps with an inconsistent powder charge could be short stroking the slide.

That's my guess with the info given.

For me Glocks were picky about case length and I had alot of out of battery malfunctions until I added a heavy crimp or trimmed the cases. I'm not a fan of heavy crimp so I just trim my brass right in between min and max length. So far using this method all of my 10mm loads for my stock 20 have been successful using 180gr plated and 200gr Nosler hp's. Best of luck to you as malfunctions frustrate me to no end.

Sounds like a 20 lb spring may just fix this. No short stroking issues. And the case trimming idea sounds like something I'll keep in mind.

Are you using a taper crimp? I've found that a taper crimp in a semi auto makes a world of difference. Now all my most of my semi autos are in the 1911 platform but I have shot my 10mm loads in a glock 20 without issues.

How much taper do you have? Maybe increase the amount of taper you have and see if the rounds drop into your barrel of your glock if you don't have a case gauge.

I've tried the drop in test and my loaded rounds seem fine. I've actually got my crimp set pretty heavy. Not too fond of going much heavier. I'll check again tomorrow tho. Thinking back, I can't remember if I did the test with the rounds from my Dillon or my Lee. I've switched over full time to the Dillon for 10mm.

One thing about Glocks is you need to hold them so the slide moves with the recoil not your wrist. If you're not feeling the recoil in your shoulders you might need to tighten up a bit. The light/fast loads might contribute to that movement. How far does you pistol throw the brass? With full house loads my G40 will toss the brass abut 6' to the right of me.

I think that may be the politest way I've ever heard someone say, "Make sure your not limp wristing it."
