The SKS (Russian: Самозарядный карабин системы Симонова, romanized: Samozaryadny Karabin sistemy Simonova, 1945, self-loading carbine of (the) Simonov system, 1945) is a semi-automatic rifle designed by Soviet small arms designer Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov in 1945. The SKS was first produced in the Soviet Union but later widely exported and manufactured by various nations. Its distinguishing characteristics include a permanently attached folding bayonet and a hinged, fixed magazine. As the SKS lacked select-fire capability and its magazine was limited to ten rounds, it was rendered obsolete in the Soviet Armed Forces by the introduction of the AK-47 in the 1950s. Nevertheless, SKS carbines continued to see service with the Soviet Border Troops, Internal Troops, and second-line and reserve army units for decades.
The SKS was manufactured at Tula Arsenal from 1945 to 1958, and at the Izhevsk Arsenal from 1953 to 1954, resulting in a total Soviet production of about 2.7 million. Throughout the Cold War, millions of additional SKS carbines and their derivatives were also manufactured under license in the People's Republic of China, as well as a number of countries allied with the Eastern Bloc. The SKS was exported in vast quantities and found favour with insurgent forces around the world as a light, handy weapon which was adequate for guerrilla warfare despite its conventional limitations. Beginning in 1988, millions were also sold on the civilian market in North America, where they remain popular as hunting and sporting rifles.

Parting with my 1955r Izhevsk SKS. It is in wonderful condition with very minor nicks and scrapes on the matching Baltic birch stock. The bluing is deep and in exceptional condition with minor rub marks in some areas and a ding here and there. The bolt shows little-to-no tarnish or wear...
Hello everyone, for TRADE is this excellent condition 1953 Tula Russian SKS. As far as I know it comes with everything it was imported with except the ziptie holding the bolt open (I cut it off and put 30 rounds through it). It is numbers matching except for the extra magazine that appears to...
Collection of Yugo SKS parts including a numbers matching rifle with cut receiver. 2 new barrels. Trigger group. Stocks and 2 old barrels in in good shape. Would like to trade for deer rifle, interesting milsurp or maybe something else. On eBay I could get over $450 for this stuff so try to...
I have a good condition Norinco SKS for sale. It comes with a sling and some stripper clips. Full disclaimer, I had about 20 clips at one point but the amount that comes with the rifle is dependent on how many I can find. Rifle has a small chunk of the stock missing from when the bayonet...
Looking for an original Norinco SKS with matching serial #s and original 10rd fixed magazine. Not interested in any bubba’d rifles.
Preference to rifles in better condition that didn’t recently come from a crate.
Local to Beaverton
Let me know what you have and how much you’re asking. Thanks!
