Typical metals used come from the carbon steel, tool, or stainless steel families. Primitive knives have been made from bronze, copper, brass, iron, obsidian, and flint.
I get disappointed when I hear, "Can you make me a Kabar?". Yes, of course I can.
But for $165 you can get a new model made of D2 or for $70 you can get an old model out of 1095. Why would you want one out of 80CRV2 or 52100? Sure it is going to be 0.250" +- instead of 5/32", but come on...
I have 5 left of the original 10 that I made. These are made with 80CRV2 and have a composite handle. Comes with kydex sheath.
Good for a Christmas Gift for the outdoor person.
