.30-40 krag
The .30-40 Krag (also called .30 U.S., or .30 Army) was a cartridge developed in the early 1890s to provide the U.S. armed forces with a smokeless powder cartridge suited for use with modern small-bore repeating rifles to be selected in the 1892 small arm trials. Since the cartridge it was replacing was the .45-70 Government, the round was considered small-bore at the time. The design selected was ultimately the Krag–Jørgensen, formally adopted as the M1892 Springfield. It was also used in M1893 and later Gatling guns.
Very, very nice rifle. Excellent bore. Goodwin style tang sight. If you aren't familiar with these sights, they are known not only for quality and ease of use, but if you are shooting cast bullets, you can swab the bore between shots without touching the sight settings. Pretty neat. Looks...
58 rounds total of factory loaded .30-40 Krag ammunition. 39 rounds Remington and 19 of Winchester. Nice clean ammo although the boxes are showing wear. $75. Located in Salem. I cannot ship.
For sale is a beautiful Springield 1898 Krag-Jorgensen chambered in .30-40 Krag with sling. The receiver, wood, bolt, and bore are in EXCELLENT condition. The action is smooth and the rifle is extremely accurate. I *might* have some ammo I can include, not sure, will have to search.
