Sounds like one killed and one wounded by police. Makes me wonder if they thought victims were the perp or were they misses from shooting at the attacker? From sky news:

"One of victims killed in attack believed to have been shot mistakenly by police, GMP says
One of the victims killed in yesterday's attack was shot mistakenly by officers during the armed response, Greater Manchester Police believe.
In a statement, Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson says the force have taken advice from medical professionals overnight ahead of full post-mortem examinations later today.
"The Home Office Pathologist has advised that he has provisionally determined that one of the deceased victims would appear to have suffered a wound consistent with a gunshot injury," he says.
"It is currently believed that the suspect, Jihad al Shamie, was not in possession of a firearm and the only shots fired were from GMP's Authorised Firearms Officers as they worked to prevent the offender from entering the synagogue and causing further harm to our Jewish community.
"It follows therefore, that subject to further forensic examination, this injury may sadly have been sustained as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgently required action taken by my officers to bring this vicious attack to an end."
GMP have also been informed one of the three victims still in hospital following the attack has also suffered a gunshot wound, but the injury is "mercifully not life-threatening", the statement says.
Both victims were believed to be close together behind the synagogue door when the attack took place.
"Our thoughts and prayers remain with all of the families, and the wider community, impacted by this incident across Greater Manchester and beyond," Sir Stephen adds.
The force has, as is mandatory in such cases, referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which investigates the conduct of and complaints against police officers."

Ive always thought that all police should be issued with shoulder stabilized weapons, ideally with non moving red dots. IMO that woudl greatly cut down on errant shots.

Small SBRs, PCCs, PDWs, or shoulder stabilized pistols.

A couple options where pistol is still holsterable (without front grip I mean) IMG_6967.jpeg
Universal brace or stock held on by your hand's grip. 22 only example photo I have handy. With this type of stabilizer the gun can be in reg holster and stabilizer carried/stored separately.

My thoughts - might be over-penetration of the .223cal rifle rounds. In images members of the congregation can clearly be seen behind the doors.

Could be. I wonder if they will make some sweeping requirement to go to frangible rounds or something (or maybe hollow points if they aren't using those). Probably not yet. Who knows. Would be nice to discover if it's a marksmanship error, target ID error, or over-penetration.

So, after coming to UK as a child, from the sh*thole of Syria, so that his family could start a new life here, free from all they left behind, they brought it with them, and never really left the place they'd fled.

They got British citizenship, joined the rest of the British population.

And brought their child up to hate, especially to hate Jews.

He was left shot to sh*t outside a synagogue.

And two other people, to whom he may be related, have been arrested.

The 7/7 bombers in 2007, who killed 52 innocent people and themselves, were also either born here, or brought here as children.

These folks bring their hate with them.
Apparently his family are appalled at the actions of their son, and have publicly distanced themselves from him and his actions.....who knew?

Out on bail for rape at time of the murders

"Jihad al Shamie was on police bail for an alleged rape when he carried out the terror attack yesterday, Sky News understands."

Other info from skynews:

"

Three more arrests made - as police confirm al Shamie was held for rape

Laurence Taylor, the head of counterterror policing in the UK, says three more people have been arrested - taking the total number to six.
"We have now arrested three further people, one man and two women, aged between 18 and mid-40s," he has just said in an update.
"This brings the number of people in custody arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism to six."
He also reveals:
  • a man was seen "acting suspiciously" outside the synagogue before he was confronted by security and walked away;
  • authorities do not believe he was reported to police at that time, but he returned 15 minutes later to carry out the attack;
  • police believe al Shamie may have been influenced by "extreme Islamist ideology" - though establishing the "full circumstances" will "take some time";
  • al Shamie does not appear to be known to counterterrorism teams, but he does have a "criminal history" - including a recent arrest for rape, which resulted in him being bailed.
  • There were a large number of worshippers at the synagogue, but "thanks to the bravery of security staff, worshippers and the fast action of the police", the attacker did not get in."

Most of us knew. Especially those of of us who actually know muslims.
