For Sale is my clone(ish) xm177 style shorty. Rifle has 11.5 inch heavy barrel with pinned and welded 5.5 inch flash hider, chrome lined, m4 feedramps. A1 upper with original A1 rear sight set, tear drop FA, on modern Anderson lower. paracord and cloth sling. Full 4 position aluminum buttstock, 31 inches overall collapsed. weighs just under 7 pounds. $850 . Scott 971-998-4906. Only 40 rounds thru it.

I am curious, what is the benefit to such a long flash hider? Is it cosmetic?

originally the flashhider had baffles in it to reduce the sound, the atf considered it a suppressor, so no go unless you get a stamp, also now it makes the the barrel the legal 16 inch, so no need to sbr. and it keeps the look of the original.This particular one also allows you to mount a bayonet if your planning any bayonet charges.
