That's nice. I'm telling you, this is US GI original. I know that because it belonged to a family member who was issued it by the government, to him, a US soldier.

Colt 1911A1's with serial numbers between 710,001 - 1,140,000 should have the serial number stamped under the firepin retainer plate on the slide.
I have a 1943 colt in the 790,000 range. It has the serial number on both slide and frame.

Ever hear of an arsenal rebuild?

Yes. I have a 1943 colt in the 790,000 range. It has the serial number on both slide and frame.
I have read SN# 916,405 - 1,041,404 were set aside for Remington rand. However Colt also used/duplicated SN# 921,700 - 1,041,404

Thought it was common knowledge. Mine obviously has a 1911, not an M1911A1 slide that has been arsenal-rebuilt (obviously because it's parked, not blue).

Not in the description of the gun your add.But yes. It could be any number of 1911 or 1911a1 gun manufactures. It could even include manufacturers that made parts only. Such as slides.

Since you asked nicely. Wait - that must've been someone else...

No worries. Looking more to trade than sell, BTW. I understand you were just trying to clear things up, but the way to go about doing that is not by insinuating I am lying or trying to scam anyone. Nevertheless, this was a fun conversation, and you sure know your 1911's!

I'm sorry. My post's don't seam helpful to you selling your gun. I will delete my post's. Good luck with your sale.
