I've got a couple of those that my dad brought back from the flight line when he was still in the States during WW2. I've been using one since the 1960's to hold some of my gun cleaning supplies. The other one is storing some shotgun shells.

A few years ago I bought a small collection of WWII cans similar number as yours (specifically wanted WWII era cans to go with my MilSurp collection, and if I get back into reenacting)
I paid $25 a can and thought I got em for a steal. They are getting really quite hard to find these days especially the .30cals. Most are used up and rusted out, rare to have complete OD paint left. You did really good at $8 per for nice condition ones!

I've got a bunch of 30 and 50 cal ammo cans, but I don't think I have one with the flaming bomb. Those are really cool.

Thanks guys, here is another one with a canvas strap.I think they only made them one year. The others are Reeves,Canco,Crown,United and Modern makers. Not sure who made the canvas strap box .malak, the box is you asked about is12x6 inches and 71/2 deep, stamped AMM BOX 50 CAL M2

These were supposedly used in the Army Air Corps, early around 1941 - 42. These never had a seal either.
