I have a Leupold RX-1300i, and while it works better at 1K than my Leica, I prefer the Leica because it's easier to read in low light (red LED). The Leupold has no backlight and the readout is black LCD. In low light or on a black background, you cannot see the readout for doodly-squat.

Is that so? I believe some of the newer models such as 1200 and 1600 have red displays

If they changed the color / optics and it was now more readable, that would be the cat's meow.
I will call them - in my experience, their tech support has always been phenomenal, and perhaps I can "upgrade" mine.

I have an RX-1000i TBR that I'd be happy to sell since I haven't been using it. Bought it new, still have the box and everything that came with it.
