Now here's an interesting approach:

Wisconsin plan would crack down on armed criminals

Wisconsin state lawmakers are reportedly considering a measure that would crack down on armed criminals as Milwaukee's body count alone is now above 100, according to a Wednesday report by WUWM, and that seems smarter than proposing more gun control laws, since a new Chicago study confirms what gun rights advocates have said for years: Few criminals get guns from stores or gun shows.

" California has a "use a gun go to prison" since the 70's "

and like the "three strikes" law, it was pretty much ignored since the mid 90's.
so It would be hard to know if it was effective or not (most likely NOT though).
Besides, most crime involving guns in California is the result of street gangs, and most of those are run and populated with Mexican nationals illegally in the country, and most of California's large urban centers are "sanctuary cities"...

...it's more like "use a gun go to back to Mexico until the heats off ".

Komifornias "Use a gun go to prison " did work well until Brown working with Rose Bird, toned down what would qualify as " using a gun ". And right after they did this crime started to sky rocket and never slowed. The three strikes law also worked until they also starting lowering what felonies would qualify in the three strikes. Komifornias feel good laws have created crime, and just like NewYork crime continues to rise the more you disarm the people and allow the arming up of criminals.
