I like my xd 9 subcompact. I know they get a lot of hate but it's been a good little pistol. I prefer it with the extended 16rd mags vs the 13rd stock mags.I am considering buying a Springfield XD 9 pistol. Will an XD 40 slide assembly fit and function on the XD 9 frame?
Like Glock, they are caliber specific, but dimensionally equilavent externally. Will the mags work as well?
My XDM 10mm 5.25" has been an absolute beast and every bit as good, with better ergonomics than any of the G20's I've owned.I like my xd 9 subcompact. I know they get a lot of hate but it's been a good little pistol. I prefer it with the extended 16rd mags vs the 13rd stock mags.
Shouldn't you get the XD40 and use a 9mm slide? Actually, people used to talk about just swapping the barrel in that case. I've had them both but not at the same time.I am considering buying a Springfield XD 9 pistol. Will an XD 40 slide assembly fit and function on the XD 9 frame?
Normally I would buy the 40 version first and then get a conversion or even a factory barrel, to use 9mm. In this case, I found an XD9 I think I can get for cheap, in a package deal and ebay has some XD 40 slide kits that are reasonably priced. They also have some 9mm slide kits so I may just keep an eye out for a good deal on an XD 40.Shouldn't you get the XD40 and use a 9mm slide? I believe that is the case for the Mod2 but my original XD9SC is as square as a glonk.I know it's a little late to the party, but xd9 and xd40 slides are not shaped the same. The xd9 has a more angled slide than the xd40, same with the xd45 which is more box shaped.
I've got a xd9, xd10 and xd45, none are mod2s and they all have different shaped slides, I do wish they were the same as finding a better holster would be a lot easier. I don't know about the compacts as all of mine are standard or full-size.I believe that is the case for the Mod2 but my original XD9SC is as square as a glonk.
Roger that, my OG sub compact is chunky and I would think it would clear a 40 siz. My friend has a XD40 4", I'll have to try his slide on my frame when I get back from Nevada.I've got a xd9, xd10 and xd45, none are mod2s and they all have different shaped slides, I do wish they were the same as finding a better holster would be a lot easier. I ended up buying an XDm-9 4.5" version. I plan on picking up an XDm 40 slide one of these days. For now I want to focus on magazine acquisitions first. This pistol will be another range toy. I think I can make the 9mm XDm mags work with 40 rounds, for range use. The 9mm mags hold 40 rounds well, they pop out of the mag well. I might pick up a single 40 mag to compare and have just in case the 9mm mag doesn't pan out in actual use.And this feller claims the xdm9 and xdm40 slides are interchangeable.

XDM9 & XDM 40 Swapping Slides
I've seen the question asked "Can I swap slide assemblies between the 9mm XDM and 40 Cal XDM?" I've asked it myself. I've heard people say yes but I've never seen a picture of someone who has successfully done it. Well here it is. I own a 9mm XDM and I bought a slide assembly and lower parts for...www.xdtalk.com
That is perfect, thank you very much.
I think the 5 hundredths of an inch in width could be overcome. Not sure the mag catch hole would line up well enough. I think I will focus my effort on finding more XDm mags. I appreciate you taking the time to provide those measurements.
