I always thought it was a machine for funny women's cigarettes that were all filter and lit by a fuse.

Not sure why Stomper ain't here.....miss seeing him around.

I resemble that comment. :)

Except I was a 1LT.

Was a scout platoon leader and led the squadron in a 80 + KM movement to contact training exercise at night in Saudi early January 1991. No GPS. Had my maps, compass, the odometer on my M3A2 CFV, the North Star and Orion's Belt.

At the end of the movement I called in the RP (Release Point). My Troop commander called back "Negative" and then a short while later drove past me and continued about another 300 to 400 meters across the featureless landscape and stopped and called in the RP on the Squadron net. He had a GPS.

I screwed up so bad that the next month I was leading the Regiment north.

No vehicles for me however....well other than the bird that inserted us.....
