You can fire .380acp 9x17mm through it as its undersized a bit .355.
That sounds like a bad idea. Aside from reduced accuracy, you're not headspacing against the end of the case. The only thing holding the cartridge in place will be the extractor, which is not good for the gun long term. Also the case is narrower at the crimp than a Mak case, so a gas seal against the chamber is harder to achieve. And Mak ammo is probably cheaper than .380 anyway.
 
Guns & Ammo wrote whole article about a Russian Makarov in the 90s. For the article, the author mixed .380 and 9x18 in the magazine of a Russian Makarov after reviewing why its safe to do so. It ran flawlessly. My old PA-63 actually shot just as well with .380 as it did with 9x18mm, for some reason
