If they are I found prob 300 of them in the area we hunt. It's insane.

The top reminds me of what a brain looks like on the outside. Very firm to the touch.

Couldn't find it till I looked in the top deadliest in wa. It appears to be a False Morel. I guess I won't be picking them.

Calve's brain is what we call them around here. Also known as false morel. If I find those, then I know there are morels in the area.

I miss mushroom picking around deer hunting season.
I snagged bags and bags of chanterelles

I'll be back there next weekend. This weekend I saw two elk and two deer. Finally got far enough off the roads for most every one to stop. Then we ran into USFS cut boundary lines where we want to hunt. Just killed the mood. But I just hope it's not for this year.

Figure that any mushroom you find "Hundreds" of in a relatively small area are going to make you sick, kill you, taste terrible, or all three.
