Passed the CCW test the weekend before Thanksgiving. Since we now have a new address (Yay!) I have to go to the DMV to change my driver's license address before I can fill out the paperwork and get fingerprinted.

So, we will be out of the small duplex rental by the end of January and into our little homestead on an acre on the edge of town. Bathrooms needed to be gutted first due to extensive water damage, which we knew about before we bought. Thankfully, my man was a plumber in a past life :)

Ordered the battery powered motion-detector lights that Burt posted about a few pages back. Amazon has them on sale right now for $59. Also, I purchased a very nice hand grinder for coffee and decided this morning that I will only use it for emergencies because it takes sooooo loooooong!!!! Ain't nobody got time for that!

Off to the DMV today and to move some boxes and purchase paint.

That's great Angie, keep us posted on the farmstead whenever you have a little time!

Ordered a pair of gas masks for $20 a piece. (I'll need to pick up some newer filters eventually)
Drager M65 Gas Mask New Unissued Mask Includes Hard Case And New NATO 40mm Filter
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/MLT-9112

Also ordered a 440rd. spam can of 7.62x54r to split among me and my sons for Christmas.

Got 4 new baby chicks about 8 weeks ago and finally moved them out into the chicken coop. Bringing our total to 10 chickens. I can finally clean my downstairs again! (And the dog gets her kennel back)

Picked up a 25lb bag of white rice at Costco for $10. Just need to get a 55 gallon barrel and some mylar bags to start properly storing my rice/flour/beans/corn.

Just got back from SoCal saw a small ad for a local gun show so I went; turned out to be the 2nd largest in the state! The line was 3 blocks long to get inside. Six convention halls plus the area outside was packed with vendors. More ARs, accessories and mags then I've ever seen in one spot, bought a few flashlights. Lots of BA, ammo and other stuff.

I'd like to gently and lovingly remind people that "Cheaper than dirt" is the company that jacked the price of AR15 mags from 9.95 to $99.95 when Obama first came into office. Some of us boycotted them for what would be call "War Profittering" under similar circumstances had the us gov't been involved. If you wish to keep buying from them thats your business- but after the way how they jacked everyone around, they can still die in a fire in my book.

I'm right there with you on that, and I remember them having a "Computer glitch" that lost all the orders at regular price, so people had to order at the "New" price later...

They can indeed die in a fire... and I will pay 10-20% higher prices elsewhere when products are available.

For the gas masks that isn't the case.

I buy most (99%) of my products from Ballistic Products, MidwayUSA or Natchez Shooters Supply.

I'm there with you...if I can avoid shopping with CTD, I will...

*edit*

Anyone else remember this little number?

I put most of my chickens in the freezer.Decided to start over when and if the landlord decides to sell.
I didn't want to build him a fence and wanted to try free ranging the chickens.
Worked perfect...till last night.
One hen had gotten broody so I let her hatch her 9 eggs. Then she took them to the other end of the property.Eagles and hawks only got 1 of my 23 + these 9, all this year
Again till yesterday/last night.
They didn't come home to roost but 2 made it back this AM.Haven't left the coop yet,lol
Heard the coyotes too,so maybe they got them
But turkeys are the way to go unless you want eggs

So I sealed my windows last night and it was cold right next to them.
Sighted in my new M70 300wm today

Yeah, I agree about CTD. I read some articles about them not too long ago, and like some businesses that do well initially, the name was bought, business sold and the reasons behind their initial successes were long gone in the corporate restructuring. I think they're just a "reseller" of products stocked at other businesses, ie an empty website representing nothing in particular.

One company I have been a solid and vocal customer of is Underwood Ammo. I could go on and on and bore you ( but not myself!) about the quality of their product, but the word is out on that. USA owned/USA manufactured ( can't forget that second part) small business where customer service is fantastic. Their website even lists exactly how many boxes of a given caliber are sitting on their shelves at any given time. Surprisingly, for larger caliber stuff their prices have been cheaper than the LGS if you buy enough boxes to make the tax (WA state) equate to the shipping.

Shooting some of their .44 mag ammo made me realize how "under loaded" some of the factory ammo is out there.

And no, I am not related to anyone named Underwood. :)
