I was down at the light

Guerrero Negro, where they calve [3-18-2013]
The young whales are curious. The adults stand on their tails and watch.

I imagine the ones that came close were calves. There were larger ones further out.
A park ranger said they were gray whales. My son and granddaughter were visiting from NM
The encounter was quite a treat. They also caught salmon in the Siletz river. IMG_5145.jpg

Wow, that is really cool! We were down on the coast in September and saw a lot of activity out off the beach - lots of spouting, a few flukes coming out of the water. It would have been amazing to see one up close like that.
