Why do so many people use the name "Wally World" when talking about Walmart?

It seems it would be easier to type in Walmart, since it's shorter.

Is it to show contempt for the company? I notice the people using the term still shop there. There can't be too much contempt if you still frequent a business.

Is the contempt because they carry so many products that are made in China and other foreign countries? If so, if I were to look around your house, would I see only items that were made in the USA?

    Just curious. Any thoughts?

The name is kind of catchy, was made popular by the National Lampoon
movie. Got hung on Walmart and stuck. I really don't think there is any
    deep philosophical meaning to it.

You're reading too far into this.
There's no philosophical contempt, nor is it done in an effort to save time.
I say it because it sounds niftier than walmart, and it makes me think of national lampoons.

sometimes I call K-mart, K-marche. Also because it sounds niftier.

So, take a step back Freud. Sometimes a cigar is just a stogie.

    Why call WalMart Wally World?

    Simple:
Look at the people who you can see in the store. Do they remind you of the Griswalds? Some do. Go to a back woods Alabama or Mississippi store. You'll be calling it Wally World really quick.

No contempt here I just find it more fun to call it "Wally World" than Wal-Mart.

Now I completely and thoroughly understand. I will never again have any questions why why it would be called that!

That site sickened me, yet I couldn't look away!
