Your right! What's just as bad is you have to be a Harvard educated lawyer to understand odfws regs. 3 full books, color? Is that really necessary? I've seen states with very simple hunting/fishing regsWe are entering the last days of affordable DIY hunting in the US. Im not even confident it will last another 20 years.
Im actually ok with the Oregon hunting regs, its the fishing regs that take some reading to figure out.Your right! Probably because your use to the nonsense of the points system and premium hunts ect. New hunters it's alot to take in and digest.Im actually ok with the Oregon hunting regs, its the fishing regs that take some reading to figure out.
Yes I am. The point system is easy to navigate for me and I understand how to monopolize saving points, and know what the good units are once I get enough points. Ive coached some new hunters and no matter how many times I tell them, a couple years go by and they don't know why they don't have enough points to get a nicer unit. Don.t put your first choice on a mediocre unit... lol.Probably because your use to the nonsense of the points system and premium hunts ect. New hunters it's alot to take in and digest.
Yes I am too....i need to find someone to partner with on antelope.Yes I am. I wouldn't either, but I grew up DIY hunting public lands here in Oregon. A lifetime of entirely self guided hunts all for blue collar dollar. I'm not the most successful hunter but I'm not paying thousands for just a few days hunting and when I get one I earned it myself.Back to Utah.....that's just a crazy amount of money for a elk tag. Even if I was rich I wouldn't pay that
I've hunted blacktail the most and killed them the least. Most of mine have been muley's but its been a while now for both. I have some good points for a muley hunt so am reading about best units for that tag.Yep me too! Mid 20s for elk and at least 1 blacktail every year since I was 13. Never killed a muely or whitetail
Mule deer numbers are down in oregon. Depending on how old you are id keep buying points savers and see if the numbers come back in 10 yearsI've hunted blacktail the most and killed them the least. Only seen one whitetail in my life.
I'm old enough my first deer was on an over the counter general season tag.... anywhere in eastern Oregon.Mule deer numbers are down in oregon. Depending on how old you are id keep buying points savers and see if the numbers come back in 10 years![]()
You've got a few years on me for sure, little long in the tooth to be holding out much longerI'm old enough my first deer was on an over the counter general season tag.... anywhere in eastern Oregon.
I have 13 buck deer points to figure out what unit to apply for. I think I'm in "no mans point land"... not enough to win a good unit, but too many points to waste on a mediocre unit anyone with a few points can get.
That's exactly what I have.I have 7 deer points and 19 antelope
"just old enough".... I recall I got the last year they issued OTC tags for eastern Oregon. I still have that tag somewhere, last I looked it was too faded to make out the year but a photograph of the deer says 1987. I wanna say it was an OTC tag but if my memory is off then it just flipped or I just took it for granted since my dad bought my tags back then. You've got a few years on me for sure, little long in the tooth to be holding out much longerdefinitely no man's land, unless you get lucky or get really lucky and draw a premium tag
