Anyone out there with an 8000+ BTU stand up air conditioner they'd sell?

Looking to save some money versus buying new, so taking a shot in the dark.

We got burned on Facebook buying one.. compressor isnt kicking over.. it's just a giant fan at this point. But if anyone here is familiar with repairing them I'd be truly happy to learn how.. it's outside of my expertise.

Is there a reason you can't have a window unit? They're much more efficient, like half as energy consuming per BTU. And they're cheaper to buy while taking up no floor space. Just a thought.

Just purchased this refurbished Toshiba from Amazon I had the same model it lasted me about 3 years before it stopped cooling. Can be turned on from your phone

I bought a 3 year warranty with it for another $65 stones . New they're 400+ so for about $230 with 3 year warranty I'd say that's pretty darn good

Very true. Mostly after a stand up unit due to our window. We had a janky set up with a smaller box one, some plywood and braces to hold it in, but we've since moved that to another area in the house (for our new dog when it gets hot). Ideally if someone was familiar with repair and could give me insight as for what to look for to repair the current one that would work too!

How much are the new ones these days?
Costco, target, home depot?
I feel like we paid 3 or 400 for either of the 2 in our house. But it's definitely been a while.
Average I've seen is about $400.
The shot in the dark is if anyone had one for less. However they do have refurbished ones on Amazon. Sadly we ordered one and effin Amazon/UPS lost it in transit so we were refunded.. old lady is frustrated so figured I'd reach out on the forum in case anyone had one. But also, I'd really like to just repair the one I've got.. but I've never fiddled with AC units. From what I've heard they are more disposable and not really meant for "repairs".. but if someone else out there knows different I'm all ears!

I paid $300ish for a 6k BTU stand up unit a week ago. A year before that, about $250 for a 6k window unit. An 8k is only marginally more expensive but much higher current draw.

A/C be damned.
I put on my wife-beater to cool down, grab a PBR tall boy, then start hitting my dog until he crawls under the house to get away from me. After a few rinse-repeat cycles, he gets it and goes there whenever he's hot.

not really
