Previous thread getting a little long in the tooth, but it's here:

Long to short: Had trouble with some bullets for my 222 Rem that turned out to be different measurements to ogive with a .016" swing. My last post in that thread is where I ID'd where I needed to be. This thread is the result of that.
I went out today with the idea of pinning down COAL and confirming a potential head space change. The guts of it are 50gr V-Max (from a new lot and all the same), H335 and CCI 450 primers.
A Star is born, picture says it all. Some groups had two bullots in the same hole but with a flyer, and the .002" bump was short lived. The 1.752" OAL is .001" past touching and there is .000" bump after full length sizing.
The primers show the onset of cratering but look perfect otherwise. The CCI 400's that I used to use would have been toast.
At some point I will run a couple of 10 shot groups which will probably end up in the .4's, but I've thrown enough ingredients at this one and need to move on to the 40 grainers.
Same Bullet.......NOT. Now I'm Measuring Everything
I have started from scratch on my .222 Rem loads because I recently shot my 7 year old mixed brass load into a ragged hole with my new rifle and now I am chasing that magic. The load is 50 gr Z-Max over H335 with a CCI 450 primer. The main difference between that and what I have work up for...
