In other news, log prices paid to landowners in Western Oregon have not increased in line with lumber prices, and in most cases have not exceeded the prices paid when lumber prices were one quarter of what they are now.

With the salvage wood from last years fires plugging the mills, most landowners cannot find a mill that will buy logs.

My point was that tariffs meant to punish/motivate foreign entities usually do the opposite, regardless of who enacts them or what their intention was. Trump said a lot about tariffs costing China $, when it was really the US consumer that paid.
