Greetings all,

I recently bought a Ruger Speed Six and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet....

When I dry fire it, either single or double action, there is a pronounced "twang" when the hammer drops. It sounds like a spring-type "twang" but it's not something I've ever experienced on any of my other Ruger revolvers. Any ideas about what is causing that? Any danger?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Have a nice Sig p220 that had the same issue in the past- although more of a sproing sound. Sent it back to Sig and they repaired it at no cost. Don't recall exactly what they did but I'm still happy after several years.

Some of the newer Smith & Wesson products do that. They have a different main spring design which I believe accounts for it.
