I'm looking for a foot-powered (treadle) sewing machine that can handle leather.
Not too concerned about the brand or model, just looking for one that will work even if we don't have electricity, and is designed for sewing leather.
I considered a hand-crank machine, but arthritis in my hands and shoulders means I'll need a foot-powered one.
The ones I'm looking at today are sometimes called a "Cobbler's Sewing Machine" or a "Patcher". They were used by cobblers in the early 1900's and are made of cast iron. But I'm just now learning about these machines. If someone here has a suggestion, I'd welcome that.
My top pick at the moment is a Singer 29-4.
