At most any gun competition you go to people will be more than willing to help you out with pointers and suggestions. The trick is in figuring out who to listen to and who to ignore!

If you're interested in getting into it, I'd just sign up to shoot at DRRC, that's what I did and it's been great. One of the guys who shoots those matches also offers training, but I don't recall his name.

The TCGC also has open matches, but I haven't shot them yet.

If you've done prior matches in pistol or rifle games, I'd suggest that you gather the stuff and go shoot a match, and see if you like it. Just sight in your rifle and pistol, have a decent pistol holster, a holster for a spare rifle mag, and some way to carry shot shells. Who cares if you don't have everything nailed down? Nobody does on their first match.

If you need any special gear like shotshell holders call the MD up and see if you can borrow some, or roll the dice that you'll like it and buy used gear off Brian Enos forum site. Many people at the matches will help with gear loans and pointers.

Just go shoot a match and see if you like it. Endless gear consults and preparation and "I need more practice first" just delays and stalls. Go try it. You'll most likely suck on your first match. And if you do, no one cares.

If you are interested pm me. I have memberships to both tcgc and drrc and have shot competitively for 4 years among some
Major 3 gun matches.
